Today Is A Good Day

I am inspired. I was reading an issue of This Old House at work the other day, and realized/discovered what I want to do in my office. I went to IKEA a while ago with Sarah and found these book cases I wanted to get. They were really cool because you could buy a corner cabinet and line an entire room with shelves. I've always always wanted to have a library in our house, but didn't think it would happen until we were able to build our own house. Here are some of the bookcase inspiration photos.

This picture shows the corner section, which would make it possible to complete shelve a room.

The next three photos show how you can make the shelves different sizes. I like that they don't have to all be uniform.

But now, I've seen other options, and I think I've found what I want to do instead. I don't really want to shelve a whole room in this house, because it would make the room super small.

This is the first picture I saw. The article in This Old House is about making built in storage features in rooms. If you want to see all of the pictures, click here. I love this because the shelves are all different sizes. I'm not planning on covering every shelf with books, I would probably but different little things on them like this shelf. I don't want a cut out for a desk though, I want it to be a solid wall.

I like this wall, because there are so many shelves. I don't want them to all be uniform boxes though.

And this is the wall I want to do it to. I think the window cut out would be a great place to set plants, and things like that. The magazine article had directions on how to do it, but Josh said a guy we went to school with is a carpenter and is looking for side jobs to do. I may get a hold of him and ask for a quote. I think it would probably be a good idea to let a professional handle this. :)
