A Day Late

The sun finally shone today! It has been so long since we've seen it. This isn't an awesome picture, because I pulled over when I was driving to take this. I'm ready for spring.
Did you get sun today?

Family Dinner

This is his happy face:
William hung his toy from my water when I wasn't looking. He's sneaky.

Sunday Scavenger Hunt

Last Sunday I posted about starting a Sunday Scavenger Hunt. This is inspired by: Ashley Sisk's blog.

This weeks photos:

Blurry:
Furry:

Life:
Everyday:
Everyday #2:

Picture #5 in this week's hunt was supposed to be "Capture the Sky". However, the entire week here in Indiana, the sky had the same color, which was similar to this:
I didn't get an opportunity for a photo because it was an all around crap weather week. So you get a photo of the main ingredient in my new favorite diet.

Dessert: so yum.

Next weeks photos:
  1. Diptych
  2. Book (next Paper Heart Camera theme)
  3. Fill in the Blank: When I think about how ______________ is in the _______________, I just have to ______________. (ACoLab inspiration)
  4. A Taste of Italy (Lindsay's suggestion)
  5. Reminders (Lindsay's suggestion)

I think this will be much more difficult. What do you think? Do you even understand #3? I have no idea.

I went to the link for #3 and found this additional info: (This entry could have 3 different photos, one song, words, video...however you interpret this).

Now I have to learn what diptych is. See! I am learning.

This & That

So. What is going on with everyone? I don't think I've actually written a real post with more words than pictures in a long time.

Here is an update on my life:

Nothing is new.

I work. Josh works. Josh goes to school. The dog sleeps on our couch. The snow keeps falling. The sun keeps shining. My brothers keep growing. My hair is still brown, and I'm still left handed.

So rock on. Perhaps this is why I don't have wordy updates. Who knows.

Here are a few random thoughts:

Always get cherry cough drops, never strawberry. Yuck.

Don't feel bad if you husband forgets your anniversary. Mine can barely remember ours, and no one at work knows theirs.

I loooove Mexican food. And brownies. And ice cream. And guacamole.

I've noticed I've starting using the phrase "go you" a little much. I also use "definitely" a lot.

And that is all I have right now.

Winter? Really?

If you follow me on Twitter, you know I am so done with winter. However, winter isn't done with us.

This was Monday afternoon at work. I don't understand it, but when the weather is bad outside, we have nothing to do inside. It's so weird.
No, thanks. I'd rather not walk.
I used the snow feature on my camera for these, and I'm not sure if it made a difference, but I know they were better pictures than my cell phone can take. :)

Sunday Scavenger Hunt

A couple days ago I posted about a photography scavenger hunt that Sarah pointed me towards. I decided to do it so that I could get used to my camera and practice taking pictures. I'm not actually submitting these photos to her website, at least not yet. This is my first week doing it, so I hope they get better from here.

She posts a list of five things each week to take pictures of. This is what this weeks list is:

1. numbers
2. canned food
3. chocolate
4. music
5. stack

Next Sunday's list is:
  1. Capture the Sky (Exploring with a Camera prompt)
  2. Everyday (February 2011 Photo Hunt item)
  3. Furry (February 2011 Photo Hunt item)
  4. Life (Sarah's suggestion - hopefully we'll see signs of "new life" this week)
  5. Blurred (Sarah's suggestion - could be bokeh, motion blur, unfocused shot, etc.)

Megan, want to do this with me and we can both post our photos on Sunday? Anyone else want to?

I Found...

The Black and White feature on my camera. I'm a huge fan of black and white photos.

Still Working On It

I'm still trying to get used to my camera. I was pretty busy this week though, so I didn't take too many pictures. I'm hoping to remember to take more this weekend and this coming week.

My friend Sarah pointed me toward this website when I asked about a fun scavenger hunt type photo challenge. I think I may start doing it, but not submitting, just to find fun things to take pictures of. Of course, I'll post them here.

I did try to figure out the color features of the camera this week. There is one where it will keep one color and make everything else black and white. I tried that with my roses, but they were striped so it turned out like this:

And I had to take my wedding photographer picture. We didn't have one like this from our wedding because we didn't have roses.

Any big plans for this weekend?

I'm Learning

I'm taking lots of pictures with my new camera, and I'm starting to learn more about it.

I'm getting used to when to use the flash and when to not. I'm trying out the different functions and options too.
My husband got me these beautiful flowers for Valentine's Day. He rocks.

Any tips? How did you learn to take good pictures?

Birthday Purchases

My mother in law asked what I wanted for my birthday, and I had no idea. I kind of wanted a new purse, so I told her gift cards from the Coach Outlet that is not to far outside of our area. I've gotten purses there before, but haven't gotten a new, good quality purse for a long time. Megan and I went up and looked around.

I love their tissue paper.
This is the purse I'm currently using. I think I got it for my 21st birthday, but I can't exactly remember. I know my mother in law got it for me, but I can't remember which year. I have really awesome family. I love it, but it isn't quite big enough. I end up carrying another bag to get my things into work.
I got this one yesterday at the Coach Factory Store.
I love it.

Manufacturers factory suggested retail price: $358.00
Savings: $238.80 When we walked in the door greeter gave me a 20% off your entire purchase coupon. I found this purse first thing when we walked in, but walked away from it, and then came back. I was going to get a solid black leather one, but my fashion consultant/personal shopper helped me to realize that I wanted this one. After taxes I paid just under $130. Quite a deal in terms of what the original price was.
Since I had some birthday cash left over we went to the Gap Outlet and I got a pair of jeans. They fit great, but are a bit too long (shocking!).

Have you gotten any good deals lately?

Random Puppy Pictures

I was practicing with my new camera yesterday. Joshua was sitting on the couch next to me, eating, and the dog was really hoping he dropped something.

I was studying the manual and someone felt left out.

Sunshine Saturday

For the first time in a very long time, I woke up to the natural sunlight beaming through my windows. It was amazing, and slightly annoying since I got to sleep so late last night. But, we got the ok from the flood people, so this snow can't melt fast enough for me. Let's get going.

I have this website that I read and I'm not proud of it. It is celebrity gossip. I will say however, I have gotten much better about the amount of gossip I read. I used to have to check like five different pages, but now I'm down to this one. It isn't family friendly, and is hardly ever appropriate, but I had to link this one up. Yesterday, they did a post about The Harry Baals Government Center. I realize that some people think it's trashy, and really, you couldn't ever tell anyone that "I work in the Harry Baals Government Center" without them laughing, but who cares? Pretty much everyone I work with can't wait to say "I work across the street from the Harry Baals Government Center". This has been copy machine talk for days (we don't have a water cooler, so the copier is the substitute.) You can even buy merchandise at Gotbaals.com. For real. Check this shirt out: Stand Firm Fort Wayne.

In other news:
Breakfast today was cupcakes.

 With coffee.
 And a cute dog.
He has allergies. That is why his nose and eyes are all pink.

Happy Saturday :)

Brother-time

We babysat the other night and I got these pictures while they were still  being good.

Best Birthday Ever

As I was writing my last post about the new camera, my husband was still being sneaky. He planned a surprise party for me, and never even hinted about it.

My family and Joshua's family was here. And my brothers were so good.

He cracks me up.
I couldn't get a real smile.

I love Chinese food. I don't know what else to say besides that. It is awesome.

I don't really care to go out to restaurants to eat, and after Joshua's birthday we talked about just having a take out night at our house for my birthday instead of going out like usual.

And that is exactly what he did. He got everyone's orders and we all had carry out.

I usually order cupcakes for my birthday because 1) I hate cutting cake, and 2) I like having smaller portions.
A gift.
Remnants of the cake.
Chinese food. Yum.
Another gift.
Mom got me this cookbook, and I can't wait to make something.
I had such an awesome birthday. I have really amazing people all around me. I'm so thankful and blessed.
