Cake Pan

I need this cake pan. Every single time my mother is around and we have cake, I have to specially cut a piece for her. Every. Single. Time. It's can't be a corner piece because there is too much frosting, and it can't even be on the edge. It has to be an interior piece, and it has to be small. If I had this cake pan, I wouldn't have to worry about it!

This is the site I got the photo from, and the original blog post.

Crazy Broke Man

This is actually pretty funny. This guy decided to go to every single Starbucks in Manhattan in 24 hours. There are 171 Starbucks in Manhattan! That is insane. Here is the link to his website, and the video below is the same video from his site. He spent almost $400 dollars, and made it to each store within seven minutes.

Breakfast for Dinner

In honor of the "Flapjack Fiasco" (see post from yesterday) we had pancakes for dinner tonight. Thankfully for our arteries, we didn't have the "fiasco". We really only had pancakes because they're really easy and we don't really have much in the house to make. We need to go grocery shopping.

If you typically eat pancakes, you should make this simple swap. I switched our mix to Fiber One, and it tastes just as good. Josh says he can't taste a difference, but I can a little bit. They are good, and worth the switch.

This measuring cup is awesome...this and the griddle are two of my favorite wedding gifts. I use this measuring cup for everything. This is the four cup, and I basically pour everything with it. It is really convenient when I'm making waffles (can you tell we love breakfast?). If you're getting married you have to register for it.
Yum.

Oh, Gross.

I found this site a while ago, I think when it first started up, and then I forgot about it...like I usually do. Somehow I just found it again, and the stuff on there is still disgusting. Check it out.

This is the "Flapjack Fiasco"
Description:Layers from bottom to top: pancake; cookie dough; pancake; peanut butter and jelly; pancake; chocolate and bananas; pancake; caramel, oreo, marshmallow, sprinkles, M&M’s; pancake; caramel buttercream frosting granished with Trix cereal.

(submitted by Caroline Smith and Tamara Coger)

ThisIsWhyYou'reFat.com. It's funny, and some of it is downright gross.

Cherries

Are you a cherry fan? I'm really not. All I've ever had are the dark red ones that stain your fingers. My Nanny always has those, and I don't really care for them. I found these Rainier Cherries at Sam's Club today, and they are wonderful. They are sweet, and delicious. You should try them, they are great.

And this is how small the pit is...teeny tiny compared to other cherries.

My Megan Post

I am obsessed with Tastespotting.com. I was on the other night and all of the pictures I saw were reminding me of Megan. Here are a few I saved. All photos from TasteSpotting.com.

Olives

Chocolate covered strawberries.

Gossip Cop

On GMA this morning they did an interview with some guy who started this site. GossipCop.com is a site that tells what is true in Hollywood news, and what is not. At the bottom of the page it has links to all of the questionable news sources. I'm guilty of reading celebrity gossip. I just check out Gossip Cop though, and it's a pretty good site. I bookmarked it. Check it out.

Why Was I Not Invited to this Wedding??

I Love Summer Classes.

I also love long walks on the beach and sarcasm. I wrote the other day about my paper that I was going to do on Joe Jackson for my Western Civilization class, since he was on the "World" section of CNN.com's news. I didn't figure my professor would see the humor in that, so I found an article about Iceland applying for the European Union and decided to do that. So here I am...writing a paper about the history of Iceland, the history of the European Union, and some details about why Iceland wants in the EU, and what good it will do for them. But first, I had to eat lunch, go to Starbucks, clean up a little around the house, and write this blog post. I also had to go through all of the papers I wrote while I was at USF and found out that when you take all American History classes, you don't have much about the rest of the world. So I can't even recycle. :/

Before I go and actually start writing, here are some interesting facts about Iceland:
The population of the entire country is half of the population of Indianapolis.
62.7% of the island is tundra.
The highest temperature ever recorded was in 1939 and was 86.9°F.
The lowest temperature ever recorded was in 1918 and was -36.4°F.
Iceland holds the title of the most Strongman competition wins.

How interesting.

Matrimonial Bliss

Last night we were watching television, and after I watched a show about amazing cuttlefish, I flipped to the CW. The show "Hitched or Ditched" was on. I missed the first five or so minutes, and didn't know what the premise of the show even was until I just looked it up. Here is what the website says about it:

""Hitched or Ditched" is a one-hour reality show focusing on couples who are in long-term relationships but have not yet taken that big leap into marriage. Nominated by a friend who believes it's either time for the couple to tie to the knot or break up, each episode features a different couple who accept their friend's proposition to set a wedding date in one week’s time.

Throughout the week leading up to the big day, the couple is put through a series of personalized exercises that test their relationship, all while planning their dream wedding. They may have to confront their problems ranging from mending relationships with future in-laws to dealing with jealousy issues. When the wedding day arrives, the couple will make the final decision - will they tie the knot or call the whole thing off? Viewers will witness every emotional milestone as the couple decides if it's time to get "Hitched or Ditched." The series is hosted by Tanya McQueen ("Extreme Make-Over Home Edition"). "

What a horrible friend. The episode last night had Courtney and Anthony who had been together a year and a half. Their "friend" decided it was time for them to get married after a year and a half?? That person would not be my friend anymore, and I would not allow anyone to tell me that I'm getting married. Watching this show made me lose respect for the CW network. Why in the world would anyone promote this? Why push two people together who obviously need longer than a week to work out their problems? They had mom-issues, and ended up not getting married because Anthony's mother threatened to have herself committed.

This is his crazy mom.

This is the couple.

Good Morning America just had Kesha Nichols on their program to set the record straight about her break up with this guy. Here is an article I found if you haven't heard about it. She was engaged to Richard Jefferson (some basketball player). They have been in the tabloids for the past week, so she went on GMA to tell her side of the story. They decided together the Monday before their $2 million dollar wedding that they weren't going to go through with it. I couldn't believe how sweet she was during her interview though. She wasn't angry, or anything. She was peaceful. They couldn't get their money back for everything they signed contracts for, and her guests still came into town to support her, so she ended up still having the reception, but as a life celebration. I thought that was an awesome idea. She may very well have been acting on GMA, but she really won me over. She is inspiring.

And of course GMA doesn't have the video up on their site. Here is a picture of them.

New Favorite

Earlier when I was posting about the bridesmaids gifts I found a link to Katie Blair's website. I originally found her through Etsy.com and when I went to look for her store again I wasn't able to find it. I don't know why. Anyhow, I just googled her and found her website. Anyway I was just reading it and I basically love everything she has on there.

I love food, pictures of food, eating food, looking at food, being creative with food, and anything else to do with food. I found this website, TasteSpotting while I was reading Katie's blog. I AM IN LOVE. I love pictures of food. They make everything look so good. Check it out. This is one of my new favorite websites, and it's going on my bookmarks.

Joe Jackson Is One Creepy Guy

I honestly had no idea what Joe Jackson even looked like until Michael died and he got all over the television with Al Sharpton talking about how MJ was killed, and Blanket has some moves. Think I'm joking? Joe issued a statement that he wasn't planning on turning the children into the Jackson 3, but I saw the interview where he was discussing that Paris was very talented and that he heard that Blanket could dance. I just found out though that Blanket's real name is Prince Michael II...which makes me feel so much better. All this time I thought his real name was Blanket.

This has nothing to do with why I started writing this. I am researching a topic for a paper in my Western Civilization class. Our professor has a sense of humor and told us that we have to write a paper that researches the historical aspect of a current event in Europe. What? Things are happening in Europe? I went on CNN.com and clicked "World" to see what has been happening elsewhere. I've never done it before. Anyway, lets see what is happening in the world...24 killed, hundreds homeless in Mongolia floods, U.S. delays Guantanamo report, and Joe Jackson denies abusing Michael.

Really? This is what is important in the WORLD. Give me a break.

Why, Megan? Why?

Someone please tell me what is attractive about this. Please.

Pasta

I loves pasta. You don't even know.

Mushrooms

I have been starving today. Way more than normal. I do this sometimes. Anyway, I got bored while I was waiting for some water to boil and decided to use one of my prep bowls I got as a wedding shower gift. Here are my mushrooms in it.

Handkerchiefs

I decided I wanted to get gifts for our parents as well. After all, they made everything possible in the first place. I decided to get them handkerchiefs. It was really the best idea I came up with because I couldn't really afford something expensive, and I knew they would appreciate the thoughtfulness, and personalization. I used this website, Felicia's Fancies for all of them. They all turned out exactly how I asked. The shipping was a bit slow, but I'm guessing that was because of the length of time it took to custom make them.

This is my dads, obviously. My mom and dad have the same dove on their handkerchiefs. I did that on purpose because when they got married, they had the dove on all of their programs, napkins, and matches.

This one is Lisa's, Joshua's mom.

This is my mom's.

I decided to get some for my grandmothers, too. I wanted them to feel included and know how much they mean to me. This is my dad's mom's.

Nanny is my mom's mom. I was getting ready to order one for my Papa, mom's dad, but he died right as I was getting ready to order. I thought about ordering it anyway and giving it to my Nanny, but decided that she would be having a hard day already, and just got one for her.
They all cried when I gave them to them...except my dad. He kept it together. :)

Wedding Party Gifts

For the groomsmen, we decided to get them something they'd love. Beer! Unfortunately we didn't think they would drink it all the night before the wedding, but they did. It was so wonderful to wake up on our wedding morning with groomsmen randomly passed out around the house. But whatever. Love those guys.

I got these buckets at Lowe's for $7 each. I got the glasses from the Knot Wedding shop. They were about $10 each. Josh picked up the beer. Nate had to be the most difficult and pick two beers as his favorite. I should have known. Here is where I found the glasses.

I'm pretty sure this is Kory's bucket. He gave me a hard time about the color of his tissue paper. The guys gifts were so easy. They're easy to please.

I got these bags for the bridesmaids. I found them at New York and Company pretty much right after we got engaged. I wouldn't have bought them if my mother hadn't suggested it. I figured it was too early on to be buying gifts, but I did, and thats what they got. :)

I got each of them one of these notebooks that I found from a seller on Etsy.com. She did a great job, and I think they loved them. I put a personal note to each girl inside. Here is a link to Katie Blair Designs blog. Check her out. I don't have a photo of it, but they got jewelry to wear for the wedding as well.

They all got lotion from the Bath and Body Works and a pair of silver flip flops to wear at the reception.

Here are Megan and Ashley enjoying their flops...and Kory just enjoying everything.

I got Isabela, the flower girl, and William and Dillian, the ring bearers these cameras to use. They are real cameras that take 35mm film. I found these on the Knot Wedding shop for pretty cheap as well. They loved them. Click here for Flower Girl Camera. Click here for Ring Bearer Camera.

Bubbles

Joshua wanted to throw rice after the wedding, but the church prohibits rice, birdseed, and confetti. So our only option really was bubbles. I picked these up from Wal-Mart and Megan and I tied the ribbon on one evening. It didn't take long at all. I don't know if there were any extra or not, and I'm really not sure where that basket is. Does anyone know? I really like that basket.

We did red and white ribbon. Some of the bubbles had circle toppers like this, and some had the tops in the shape of a heart.

Our IU themed basket.

This is probably the best picture of the bubbles. Oh well.

Shower Hostess Gifts

I forgot to make some posts before the wedding. I took these pictures and then obviously got so busy with the wedding that I forgot to ever post them!

Sarah and Megan hosted a wedding shower in my honor (aren't they the greatest?) and since I knew it would be wonderful and that they would outdo themselves, I got them a little gift.

These bags were so cute. I found them at the Bath and Body Works Outlet store in Fremont, IN.

I filled their bags with Warm Vanilla Sugar lotions, sprays, a scrubber, and a Coach umbrella, with a little note that wished them happy showers in the future.
I wish I had bought one for myself! :)

Today In History

In honor of today being the day in 1930 when the Veterans' Administration was established...Do you know why Veteran's Day is on November 11 every year?

On November 11, 1918 the Armistice was signed to end WWI, and therefore was adopted as Veterans' Day. Now you know.

1861 - The first major battle of the U.S. Civil War began. It was the Battle of Bull Run at Manassas Junction, VA. The Confederates won the battle.

1873 - Jesse James and his gang pulled off the first train robbery in the U.S. They took $3,000 from the Rock Island Express at Adair, IA.

1930 - The Veterans’ Administration of the United States was established.

1969 - Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin become the first men to walk on the Moon, during the Apollo 11 mission.

1980 - Draft registration began in the United States for 19 and 20-year-old men.

1997 - The U.S.S. Constitution, which defended the United States during the War of 1812, set sail under its own power for the first time in 116 years.

1999 - The missing plane of John F. Kennedy Jr. was found off of the coast of Martha's Vineyard, MA. The bodies of Kennedy, his wife Carolyn Bessette and her sister Lauren Bessette were found on board. The plane had crashed on July 16, 1999.

2007 - The seventh and last book of the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," was released.

I Quit

I wasn't going to post about this, but I just realized that it is part of my goal list. I decided to deactivate my Facebook account today. My goal on my list was to only log in once a week for four weeks...well...I'm going to put my goal "in progress" and I guess after four weeks I'll mark it "completed".

On another note, I'm watching this show "Dating In The Dark" where they set these people up on blind dates in the complete darkness so they get to know the person without knowing what they look like. Here's to another long lasting reality television show.

In Honor of...

Walter Cronkite and the historic landing of Apollo 11 on the moon which took place 40 years ago today...enjoy this moment in history (note: this is a simulation of what it was believed to have looked like):

The eagle has landed.

It's hard to imagine how this must have felt for them.

Picnic Set

When my friend Maria got married, I got them a picnic set as a gift. I could have gotten something off of their registry, but I thought it would be more fun to surprise them with something different. A picnic is something they would do. So I got this awesome set from Sam's Club for pretty cheap. I was telling my mom that I got it for them, and then she came over a few days later because she bought one for us! I just got around to opening it, and it is really cool! Check it out.

All of the dishes are inside that zipper pouch so that you can carry your food in this compartment.

Inside the zipper compartment all of this dishes are organized and strapped down.

The other side of the zipper pocket. The brown thing at the top is a bag for dirty dishes. I thought it was hilarious that the napkins were folded like a restaurant.

I Want A Pink Cake with a Blue Motorcycle...

My brother Dillian turned 4 last Thursday, and when my mom asked him what kind of cake he wanted he told her "A pink cake with a blue motorcycle". She asked the bakery to make one, but they told her they didn't have anything like that that they could make. So she asked me to do it. I have this cake plate that I love, but it doesn't have a lid, so I was trying to figure out how I was going to get the cake to Chuckie Cheese. I remembered that the Snyder's got us this awesome cupcake carrier, and figured I could take the trays out and use it as a cake carrier. It worked great! I love it.
The cake carrier.

I could have used food coloring, but I decided to make a strawberry cake, that way it was already pink.

I bought him two motorcycles for his cake, because I knew if there was only one there would be a fight over who got to play with it.
I accidentally bought cookie icing, instead of decorating icing, so it all ran together. He didn't care though, and really didn't even notice...he can't read yet. :)

Dillian's cake with his motorcycles.

He loved it, he was so excited about it.

Getting ready to cut the cake!
Happy Birthday, Dill! William is next...can't wait to see what kind of cake he wants.
