I'm a house wife. Kidding, kidding. Josh and I have had this discussion a few times since the wedding...was I only a bride for one day, or am I always his bride? Anyone?
Anyway, this blog will probably be filled with house postings from now on. I'd like to apologize to those of you who only read because I had interesting and refreshing wedding ideas to share. My advice to you is to go find a blogger who just got engaged, and enjoy her postings for about a year until you find yourself in the exact same place you're in now: reading a blog by a wife full of decorating inspiration. Of course, you could just repeat this pattern as often as you'd like, but, well, that's besides the point. I have a feeling that I belong on The Nest. For those of you who don't know, The Nest is the married version of The Knot. Same snarky girls, but now, they're all armed with wedding bands. Woo hoo.
I'll start with the kitchen.
These are pictures of my kitchen.
Yes, this is all of it.
For someone so interested in cooking, you'd think it would be bigger, wouldn't you? Truth is, Joshua and I get in each others way while we're in it together. Now here is the really shitty news: the kitchen is covered in wallpaper. I have specific rules that I created for the rest of the world, and one of the rules is: If you put up the wallpaper, you must take the wallpaper down. I didn't get to these people in time. I think the kitchen is going to be my first married project. I have to strip the wallpaper and paint. However, I do not know of a good color for a kitchen. I know green is not a color to use because it isn't appetizing. Does anyone have any ideas for a great kitchen paint color? What color are your kitchens?
The second thing I'd like to do is update all of the appliances. We had to get a microwave shortly before the wedding because ours died. I want to get all matching stainless steel. This is going to be a badass kitchen when I'm finished with it...who knows when that will be.
For the wedding, Nate's family got us these awesome Calphalon knives. They rock (the knives, and Pete and Denise).
I bought this off of our registry to hold my awesome knives.
When all is said and done, it will look like this, but with more knives on it.
But guess who has to finish the kitchen first. I don't want to hang the strip up just to take it back down. I am making myself not put it up until I paint the kitchen so that I don't make extra unnecessary holes in the wall. Ugh.
