Do You Resolve?

I typically don't. I am usually so against resolutions that I never make any at all. Wikipedia claims that only 12% of resolutions ever made are actually successful (yes, Wikipedia, take it how ever you want). The past few years I haven't made any resolutions, but this year they seemed to pour out of me. Looks like I'm making up for lost time.

My first resolution was to break up with Facebook, for good. I've quit Facebook about ten times, and I'm tired of going back. I spend way too much time on it, and I worry about people who truly aren't that important to me. It may sound harsh, but it's the truth. The people I'm truly friends with talk to me outside of Facebook. There seems to be a problem with Facebook, particularly with people my age, that the Status Updates make them very negative, and cynical. For my own sanity I decided to leave Facebook before I wrote on all of their statuses that their lives aren't that bad, and they need to suck it up and get over themselves. I'm not that mean.

My second resolution was to get our finances in order and live on a budget. That is a work in progress.

My third resolution was to stop saying the word "hate" and to stop cursing so often. It's been a challenge so far, mainly because I've worked every day since I made that resolution. I'm trying though.

This isn't really a resolution, but I've decided to try to include this in all of my blog posts:
The highlight of today is: feeling in control of my future.
Today I am thankful for: coffee and conversation with my friends.

I think if I consciously think about the best part of my day and what I'm thankful for, it will force me to be more positive and recognize the good things in life. I don't post everyday, but I'm pretty excited about adding this part.

What were your resolutions? Will you accomplish them?
