I'm Getting Better

I posted last week about my nail problems. I have always had very small nail beds, and I used to have a very serious nail biting habit. Whenever I would try to grow them (or temporarily stop biting them) they would always break and snag easily. I started taking vitamins about a month or so ago, when we started the no carb diet. I have stopped the no carb diet since then, but I'm still taking my vitamins.

So anyway, I've dropped my nail biting habit, and since I've been taking vitamins, my nails have been growing like there is no tomorrow, and they're as hard as (forgive the pun) nails.

Well, since I have decent looking nails that are natural for the first time in my life, I decided I wanted to paint them. The only problem is that it isn't as easy as it looks. First of all I have to sit there for a million hours and wait for the stuff to dry and I'm not even good at putting it on. And then, even when I think it's dry, it isn't. I usually have dings on every single nail. I tried some stuff a few times last week and every time it ended up streaky. Some awesome blog readers of mine suggested I try a base.

So I went on another scavenger hunt in the cosmetics section at Target, with my friend Megan. When we found a base, I quickly decided it was too expensive and I was going to Wal-Mart. My only problem was that when we were at Target, Megan found the base, I only looked at it after she grabbed it. She didn't go to Wal-Mart with me, so I was stuck looking for-ev-er. Finally, after I got so frustrated I found this Maybelline Express Finish, Base & Top Coat.
Yeah, nothing exciting. It's clear. But it really does work. I got this for around $3 at Wal-Mart. I put it on and it even helped the streaky polish look a little better, but I finally decided it was just a bad bottle of polish. I put on a different color with the base and I am very happy with how it looks.

So a big thanks to Amy and Ashley for teaching me about base!
