This is the new me. Ugh.
We started a no carb diet. Lots of people have their opinions about it, mine was "this sucks, it's stupid, I'll die without bread". And look at that, I'm still here. We started this diet last Friday, and its gotten better every day...mostly because I've learned that I do have energy without the carbs, and I am liking the food we're eating. Let me tell you, my coffee tastes so much better with real cream...and so do my eggs.
I made a big salad on Sunday night for us to eat throughout the week. We eat a lot of Mexican food here, so I am missing that. Last night Josh suggested I check out corn tortillas at the store to see how many carbs were in it. We assumed that corn tortillas were made with corn (strange right?) but they're make with corn flour, and end up having more carbs than flour tortillas. So we decided to have a taco salad without tortillas or chips. I've had it before so I knew I'd like it. Instead of salad dressing I use salsa, and it really is tasty.
I got the taco seasoning down out of the cabinet and saw that it had some carbs in it. I checked out the ingredients and decided to make my own taco seasoning.
The main ingredients were corn flour, garlic powder, salt and paprika. It had a few other things but I kind of ignored it. They didn't seem necessary.
I browned my hamburger and added about a teaspoon salt, tablespoon garlic powder and a tablespoon paprika, and it tasted just as good, but less saltier than the taco seasoning I typically use. It was so easy, and it didn't have any of the ingredients I couldn't pronounce inside.
I would recommend this to anyone making tacos. It's cheaper, and tastes a little better in my opinion. Josh approved.

I think I might have to try this recipe once we run out of seasoning! We ate tacos at LEAST once a week. We usually end up with tacos with beef and then fajitas with steak another night. Sad huh?
