Baby Boy

Nick and Hannah are having a baby boy, sometime very soon. At the risk of sounding like we're all from the same branch of the family tree, Hannah is Nick's wife, but I consider them both my cousins. We're all the same age, so its easy to be friends as well as relatives. We don't see them all that often, but we always have a great time when we're together. I don't know if you remember the story or not about the night we found out that Hannah was pregnant. It's a good one.

This is the cake I made for the shower. The dots are just the little melting chocolate things in light blue and white. I made a cake similar to this for Megan's Graduation.
I thought that fresh fruit sounded fantastic, so I went overboard.
It doesn't get any prettier, or easier than that.
The punch. I've never been to a shower without punch, so I had to learn how to make it. This is a 2 liter of 7-Up, the rest of the bowl full of Hawaiian Punch, and orange sherbet on top.
Crackers and cheese.
The water with strawberries in the pitcher sitting next to the red cups was surprisingly the biggest hit of the shower. Everyone loved it. It is water with strawberries in it. That. Is. All. Nothing fancy.
Yum. My favorite, meatballs. I bought frozen meatballs and made my own sauce. It's a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's with half a jar of grape jelly mixed in.
The tiny ham sandwiches. These are Hawaiian Rolls, ham, and cheese. The topping is butter, mustard, Worcestershire, poppy seed and minced onion. These are amazing.
It was a huge coincidence that the cake, plates, napkins, and invitations matched everything that Hannah registered for. She told me how cool she thought it was that I did that, so I fessed up that it was all chance.
Our super clean living room. Main location of the shower.
Mom-to-be chair.
Game prizes. We only had two games and they were super simple. I hate shower games. I don't enjoy them at wedding or baby showers. I don't get the point of them at all. We did one game where you measured how big you thought Hannah was with a roll of toilet paper. The person closest won a manicure set from Bath and Body Works. For the other game I set a kitchen timer and who ever was the giver of the gift Hannah was opening when it went off won. They got a candle and Hannah got baby socks.
Kitchen chairs re-purposed for the day.

The food.

The beautiful Mommy-to-be. Isn't she adorable?

The shower went better than I could have ever planned. I'll call this one a hosting success.
