Sweatpants & Sushi Saturday

I don't know about you, but sushi night is my favorite. Add sweatpants and it's perfection. I love having people over and I love being comfortable, so the rule for this Saturday was no dressing up. It was wonderful.

You might remember a few years ago we had Dinner Club Saturdays.

Megan and I were talking a few weeks ago and decided we wanted to do it again because it was so much fun. Sushi night happened to be first, so here we go :)

Megan loaded up all of her sushi equipment into her fancy Colts bags (this is Indiana, you know) and toted it all over to my house.
While she was getting the soup ready, me and Vanessa ate a lot of the Wasabi Peas. "Wasssssaaaabbbiiii, like from that movie."
Some of the necessities.
Sticky rice.
Beginnings of soup.
Beginnings of sushi. All the staples.
Professional at work. She makes it look easy.

This one is a crab, cucumber, avocado roll...don't know the actual name for it.
All rolled up with no where to go.
Sushi Night was Vanessa's first time every eating sushi. She was skeptical.
And a little scared.
But she liked it, I think.
Getting ready for dinner.
Beautiful.
These had steamed asparagus in them. I've never used my rice cooker as a steamer before, but I will from now on. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. I can't wait to use it again.

Sushi night made us realize that we need a bigger table if we're going to entertain. Which means we need a bigger dining room...which means... hopefully someday we'll be able to entertain :).
We ate off of saucers and it worked out.

Sushi night was a success. We decided that on future themed nights we have to dress like the county we're eating from. Should be interesting.

  1. OMG how fun! I'd love to make my own sushi one day, but hubs hates sushi. :(

Maybe I need to have a girls night myself!

  2. Oh it is so fun, and so much easier than I ever thought it would be. I'm actually thinking about making it too. I was very skeptical at first, but after watching Megan make it I know I can do it.

Definitely host a girls night, and make everyone dress Japanese. :)
